About NCC – National Cadet Corps

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is an integral part of the Indian Armed Forces' youth wing, with its headquarters in New Delhi. Open to school and college students on a voluntary basis, NCC instills values of leadership, discipline, and patriotism.

NCC is a Tri-Services Organization comprising the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Cadets receive basic military training in small arms and participate in parades and various physical exercises. It was established on 16 July 1948 under the 31st NCC Act, based on the recommendations of the Pundit H.N. Kunzru Committee.

Initially limited to urban areas, NCC has now expanded across the country. Its core aim is to develop character, leadership, a sense of service, and unity among the youth, preparing them to be responsible citizens and future leaders of India. NCC includes both boys and girls as cadets.

The Motto of NCC is: "Unity and Discipline."

Introduced in 2014, the NCC program at Delhi Public School, Kalyanpur aims to nurture disciplined, responsible, and patriotic young individuals.

The school offers NCC training to students from Classes VIII to X. Currently, 50 cadets are enrolled under the 103 UP BN NCC unit. Over a two-year period, cadets engage in rigorous training sessions and various physical and cultural activities.

Regular training is conducted every Tuesday and Friday by trained school staff and PI (Permanent Instructor) personnel. Cadets participate in a wide range of activities including:

• Yoga & Physical Training
• Drill & Parade Practice
• Public Speaking, Singing, and Dancing
• Cultural Programmes and Competitions

Outdoor camps and cultural events help develop teamwork, leadership, and self-confidence. Cadets are also felicitated with medals for their achievements and active participation.
